PDF: What of it?

Portable Document Format or more popularly known simply as ‘PDF’ was developed by Adobe Systems. It has the file extension .pdf and it is the preferred format when documents are shared over the internet especially for the text heavy documents such as word files.

The great thing about converting word files into PDF is that the original layout of the document is retained and it proves to be a very secure and safe means of sharing and publishing information on the web. When we say it retains the layout, it means that the fonts, font size, color, etc. are preserved.

The MS Word program has an add-on which enables users to convert MS word documents into PDF. Viewing PDF documents is also easy with free PDF readers available on the internet such as Foxit. Converting PDF files back to MS word files is also now possible using various softwares which can also be found on the internet.
