Our vocabulary building word for tonight is ‘frisk’ or ‘frisking’! It’s Frisking baby! Sort of sounds like Jim Carrey or Austin Power line huh? Yeah, baby yeah… but it’s not.. completely different.

Frisking is all about searching someone for concealed weapons or illegal drugs; “he gave the suspect a quick frisk”, for example.

I saw the word today at the mall, the place where I work… It says.. We’ll be Frisking and searching your bag for security purpose.

I am currently (trying) to finish reading “The Talisman” by Stepehen King so I can start reading the other King book. This is the one I bought in Burnaby – Lisey’s Story.

While reading it last night I got this word – Don.

Instinctively, from childhood or from wherever, I know that ‘Don’ is a word used to denote someone with riches and power. And I know too that it is a spanish term… “a Spanish gentleman or nobleman ”

But the way Stpehen King used it in his book goes like… “..it’s like what children don in Halloween.” or something like that.

I did a definition search now (now that I have internet connection) and here’s what Mr. King meant by “Don”.

wear: put clothing on one’s body; “What should I wear today?”; “He put on his best suit for the wedding”; “The princess donned a long blue dress”; “The queen assumed the stately robes”; “He got into his jeans”

There you go, another word of the day just for you. Keep building that vocabulary ok?

God bless!

I received an email today from WIDGETBUCKS saying that my blog (1 of 4 submitted) was approved for their Ad Network.

Here’s what it said:

Dear Publisher,

Thank you for submitting your sites to be reviewed by our Publisher
Management team.

After reviewing your sites the following URLs have been approved for the
WidgetBucks ad network:

http://utube-yutube-videos.info

The Subject title of the email is “Your new WidgetBucks URLs have been vetted”… and I said, hmm.. I wonder what Vet (or Vetted) is.. Does it mean approved or disapproved?

At first thought, “Vet” looks like an Animal Doctor, right? Well, yeah but it has other definition… and now we will further build our vocabulary.

Now we will know it’s definition.. It means analyze, investigation, examination and evaluation.

Here’s what Google/Wikipedia’s definitions:

examine carefully; “Someone should vet this report before it goes out”

# Broadly, vetting is a process of examination and evaluation. Specifically, vetting often refers to performing a background check on someone …
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vetted

# Of or pertaining to an investigation, especially one that has been completed
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vetted

She came here last year, all alone. She’s an emancipated kid…

Tha’t the whole line that I heard (well at least that’s what I remembered) from the dialogue of the villain character in tonight’s episode of Supernatural.

Sam and Dean battles a century old witch that sacrifices people (3) to resurrect Samhain or Samhein, the Halloween man.

Anyway, here’s what Emancipate, means.. From the example sentence, it looks like it has something to do with self reliance and independence… Let’s consult Google….

Emancipate means, ;To free from bondage or involuntary servitude… Right! at least there the work ‘free from’ in there… :) Servitute may be another entry but I guess my guess is right.

Another good definition is give equal rights to; of women and minorities. Right again!

Now I get it… did you get it? Hope you use it as often chance you get.. Goodluck!

Let’s take this Business Mirror article about Eraserheads’ vocalist Ely Buendia… “spent about a week in the hospital and a month-and-a-half at home recuperating”.

That’s self explanatory isn’t it? If you may recall, Ely Buendia was underwent another unblocking of artery after he was rushed from a one night Eraserheads reunion concert last AUgust 31, 2008.

He was at the hospital getting better… or should we say recuperating.. nice! :) Apply and use the word to retain in memory.

Good luck!

I heard Arthur Petrelli says this to Sylar when the two of the are talking (and Peter got away)… “you are a blunt weapon”… or something like that.

You’re probably laughing, and yeah… I thought that was a complement or something but it turns out, after searching about ‘blunt’ in the internet, it meant quiet the opposite..

It means dull or in using the word with a knife or blade, a used one. Or make less sharp; “blunt the knives” something like that.

ALright, now I have an idea more or less… Blunt.
